On 20 October 2010, eurammon board member Bernd Kaltenbrunner took part as a natural refrigerants expert in an information event held by the GTZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit) in Eschborn. As part of the GTZ ProKlima programme, representatives from companies involved in the various areas came together under the motto "Natural Refrigerants in Industrial and Commercial Refrigeration" to report on current developments and results in the field of refrigeration applications with natural refrigerants. The interested audience was made up primarily of representatives from industrial associations and ministries of industrial and developing countries. The experts at the event presented examples to illustrate among others the energetic efficiency of natural refrigerants, for instance when using ammonia/CO2 cascade refrigerating systems. "A solution of this kind is being used in a project in South Africa where the operators are achieving energy savings of between 19 and 20% compared to other systems", reports Bernd Kaltenbrunner. "This shows that natural refrigerants are both an environment-friendly and energy-efficient solution for refrigeration technology".
